Donald Trump is not done with reality TV. He is partnering with MTV to create a new reality show called “Pageant Place” which will cast former Miss USA Tara Conner as “den mother” to three winners of beauty pageants.
Conner got lots of attention last year when she was seen partying a little too much. However, Trump who co-owns the Miss USA, Miss Universe and Miss Teen USA pageants gave her a second chance.
“We’d been thinking about everything that happens backstage and how women like Tara captured the imagination of so many of us, including a slob name Rosie O’Donnell, who didn’t like that I gave Tara a second chance.” Trump said in an interview “And we thought, wouldn’t it be great if we had the cameras roll?”
The TV mob drama The Sopranos ended with Tony Soprano controversially blacking out. Fans are now seizing on clues to know if he was rubbed out. One of the clues was a flashback in a past episode to a conversation between Tony and his brother-in-law about death. An HBO spokesman said that was a legitimate hint and that the show’s creator had a definite ending in mind.
“While he won’t say to me 100 percent what it all means, he says some people who’ve guessed have come closer than others”. “There are definitely things there that he intended for people to pick up on.”
Isaiah Washington lost his job in the ABC hit “Grey’s Anatomy”. It is the consequence of creating an anti-gay slur. Hi contract was not renewed for next season. “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore,” said Washington in a statement.
Katherine Heigl and Gay rights groups were his most vocal critics. “This is something that will have changed the scope of his life” Heigl said last month. She also said that Washington was sorry and embarrassed for what he had done. Washington tried mending his mistake and was seeking therapy.
Washington met with officials from the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network and he filmed a public service announcement where he said that “words have power” to hurt or heal.
The winner for this season’s American Idol is Jordin Sparks, after a new record of 74 million votes. Jordin is the youngest winner in the show’s history. Jordin, 17, prevailed over Blake Lewis, 25, after her performance Tuesday night when she wowed the judges and the viewers.
One of the first things she said was “Mom, Dad, I love you.” Her dad is retired NFL player, Phillippi Sparks. In an interview backstage she remembered talking with her dad about how she used to watch him sign autographs. Her dad replied “You’re more famous than me now” Jordin thinks that is weird.
Jordin was asked if she thought she grew as an artist during the competition with the judges’ remarks, and she said “I totally think I did, I’ve just been trying to top myself each week… I would sing my song and then after I was done I was, ‘OK, what am I going to do next week that’s going to be …just as good or better?’”
The two time Olympic gold medalist Apolo Anton Ohno became the new Dancing With the Stars champion Tuesday night. Apolo and his partner Julianne Hough, beat Joey Fatone from N’Sync.
Apolo said he felt amazing and also said “You put your mind to something, you give 100 percent, sacrifice and dedication, anything is possible.” He trained in the dance studio as he would on the ice. His coach said that his competitiveness is almost on the verge of insanity.
Joey Fatone, former N’Sync star, was this season’s showman. Although he didn’t win Joey said that the show had been an amazing journey and that it was probably one of the best things he had done in his life. “Congratulations to them. Well deserved” he said to Ono and Hough and added that he also felt like a winner.
Everybody though that Melinda was definitely going to be in the American Idol finale next week, however she was voted off Wednesday night. The results were a real surprise since Doolittle was the best singer in the competition. The two finalists are Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis.
“Congratulations to you two. My commiserations, Melinda, ‘cause you are one heck of a singer,” said a sad Cowell, who seemed pretty upset with the news. After all Simon always made clear that she was her favorite singer in the competition. The 29 year old back up singer turned Diva from Tennessee delivered solid performances through out the whole competition. Melinda never hit a bad note through out the whole season.
Lakisha Jones was eliminated Wednesday on American Idol. The talent show is now down to its final three. Jones was very nervous Wednesday night and Ryan Seacrest even noticed her talking to herself.
Cowell was more brutal than ever with his criticism this week. The contestants performed songs by Barry Gibb and Simon told Lakisha “No kiss tonight, baby” and told Blake that his performance was absolutely terrible. When Ryan asked Simon who he predicted to be going home, Simon correctly said Lakisha. 45 million people voted this week.
Lakisha is a 27 year old single mother who is originally from Michigan. She started singing when she was 5 years old and has a passion for gospel music but was trained in classical music. Lakisha was obviously upset with the results with tears on her eyes, but she stayed in American Idol long enough to help kick start her career as a singer.
The most popular talent show in the US American Idol raised more than $30 million Wednesday for people in Africa and the US. American Idol had a special two hour show Wednesday filled with inspirational songs, movie, television and music stars. The night also included stories of poverty from Africa and the United States.
Bono, the lead singer for U2 said “People say you can’t be the generation that ends brutal, stupid poverty, but we can and we will.” Bono is also the lead spokesman for the ONE Campaign, which is trying to make poverty history. He also said that the feeling of standing in front of 70,000 people in LA was pretty amazing, and couldn’t think of any other feeling better than it except the feeling of saving somebody’s live.
Sanjaya Malakar, the not so talented but very popular contestant in American Idol was voted off Wednesday night. When Sanjaya got the bad news on the show, he wipes a few tears and got a big hug from the next lowest vote getter, Lakisha Jones. Sanjaya told Ryan that’s he was fine and that it had been an amazing experience. Seacrest replied “I can promise you: We won’t soon forget you”
The last song performed by Sanjaya was “Something to talk about” and he put his own twist to it. The 17 year old is well known for his ever changing hair style. On this last performance Simon thought it “utterly horrendous”. Cowell routinely savaged Malakar while he became one of the weakest awkward “Idol” finalists ever. Somehow this teen managed to stay in American Idol getting more votes than better singers in the competition. He cultivated a fan base that helped him survive week after week.
Although Haley got the legs and knew how to use them, she got sent home Wednesday night. America likes Sanjaya more than Haley’s legs!
Haley is 24 and she is originally from San Antonio, Texas. With Haley leaving only leaves 7 people left in the run to become the next American Idol, which will be chosen in May.
Simon suggested Haley to keep her tactic of looking sexy and showing off her great legs to stay in the competition. Scarnato said she will not wear anything that’s completely inappropriate.
Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson are next on the list with the least votes after 35 million people called in and text messaged their votes. Stacey is 29 and he is originally from Jacksonville, Florida. He sang “Maria Maria” and Simon thought it was flat and unoriginal. On the other hand Simon complimented Richardson who is originally from Virginia by saying he put a contemporary spin on the song “Smooth”
