Explosion in ManhattanBy Stan The Devil

After a major pipe explosion in New York no asbestos were detected in the air. A steam pipe burst in the middle of the city. The explosion killed one person and injured 26 people.

Some asbestos were detected in some debris, “People who may (have come) into contact with the steam or debris should take a shower and place their clothes in plastic bags for cleaning or disposal. People inside buildings in the frozen zone should keep windows closed and switch air conditioners to recirculate the air inside instead of drawing in air from outside” a statement said.

The area around the explosion has been frozen because of fear of asbestos in the air. People are allowed in the frozen area but are asked to use caution. Only people that are in the frozen zone are allowed to stay, no outside people allowed in.

The New York Fire Department received the call at 5:56pm and more than 170 firefighters showed up at the scene. People that witnessed the explosion said that officials were very quick with their response and in less then 20 minutes the entire area was locked down.

The explosion was major the ground was shaking but it is not related to terrorism. The pipe that exploded was installed in 1924 and it seems like cold water got into the pipe, apparently the cold water causes these pipes to explode. The pipes were inspected earlier that day and nothing wrong was found.

Explosion in Manhattan

My thoughts:
I would’ve probably freaked out! Another explosion in New York! I bet all those people that were there that also witnessed 9/11 thought it was happening again! Inspectors need to be more careful that could’ve been another major tradegy.
