The first fully assembled 787 was on displayed for an audience of thousands in the assembly plant. Flight attendants from each airline that has ordered the jet were on stage. Boeing has named this 787 Dreamliner. “Our journey began some six years ago when we knew we were on the cusp of delivering valuable new technologies that would make an economic difference to our airline customers.” Mike Bair, vice president and general manager of the 787 program said to the crowd.
The Dreamliner will bring about a dramatic improvement in air travel: making it more affordable, comfortable and convenient for passengers, more efficient and more profitable for airlines, and more environmentally progressive for our Earth.
They already have more than 600 orders from customers. This is the newest plane since airlines started flying the 777 in 1995. The Dreamliner will be the world’s first large commercial airplane made mostly of carbon fiber composites, which are lighter.
The final assembly of the first 787 started in May. Once production hits full speed it is expected that the final assembly process will take three days. Workers are taking several weeks wiring before the plane is taken to the assembly plant.
The first test flight is expected to be between August and September, and the first commercial flight is scheduled to be next May. The 787 displayed Sunday will serve as a flight test plane along with other 5 they have in the assembly line. Two of those planes will be used for static and fatigue tests. The ninth plane off the assembly line will be the first on out for sale.

My thoughts:
I wonder if it will really be cheaper for passenger to fly on these new planes, or if airlines will no charge passengers more money because now they will be flying in this new plane with more features and more comfortable.
