Everybody though that Melinda was definitely going to be in the American Idol finale next week, however she was voted off Wednesday night. The results were a real surprise since Doolittle was the best singer in the competition.  The two finalists are Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis.

“Congratulations to you two. My commiserations, Melinda, ‘cause you are one heck of a singer,” said a sad Cowell, who seemed pretty upset with the news. After all Simon always made clear that she was her favorite singer in the competition. The 29 year old back up singer turned Diva from Tennessee delivered solid performances through out the whole competition. Melinda never hit a bad note through out the whole season.

Jordin Sparks is one of the finalists; she is originally from Glendale, Arizona and has fans of all ages. She has charisma and great stage presence. The decision next week will be extremely hard since Blake Lewis, 25, has tricks up his sleeve.  He is a risk taker and also has many fans. He is the year’s hippest contestants and his beat boxing makes him very unique.

There were almost 60 million votes last night and there will probably be more next week for the finale. Maroon 5 and Elliot Yamin who came third last year, were the guest performers for the night.

My thoughts

I think Melinda was really good but I think she didn’t get as many votes as the other two because Blake and Jordin look better. I bet that is the only reason because she is a better singer. It is going to be really interesting to see who wins next week. I’ll keep you posted.
